Boeing and Jet2.com have finalized an order for 27 Next Generation 737-800s, valued at around £1.7bn at current list prices.
The aircraft which are due to be delivered over a two year period to 2018, will lift Boeing's order backlog of current generation 737s to 1,400 planes.
In their recent news release, Todd Nelp, Vice President of European Sales Boeing Commercial Airplanes said:
“We are very proud that Jet2.com has again selected Boeing to meet its continuing fleet requirements.''
Jet2.com currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of around 60 aircraft and through package holidays and flights alone, flies over 3 million people to 55 destinations every year. The leisure airliner has flown over 30 million customers to date.
Jet2.com executive chairman Philip Meeson said:
"Today's order for 27 additional 737-800NGs will be delivered over the next two years and will provide Jet2.com with the necessary cost effective, reliable and comfortable environment to allow us to build upon our already highly successful family friendly business. We are extremely pleased to have finalized this order for more of what has already proven to be a popular, aircraft within our fleet.''
Jet2.com is a unit of Dart Group PLC and began operating commercial aircraft in 1983 under the name Channel Express.
